Frequently asked questions
What services are provided?
Our staff consists of registered nurses and medical assistants working with two to three physicians, depending on the time of day.
We also provide laboratory and x-ray services, with most results made available to you during your visit.
Who may receive services?
We treat Sutter Gould Medical Foundation and Community Provider Network patients age three months and older who are unable to obtain timely appointments with their providers.
We also accept most cash pay patients and community members without primary care providers.
Our reception staff will assist you with questions regarding insurance co-pays and costs.
What happens after I check into the clinic?
Your blood pressure, heart rate, temperature and a brief medical history are taken. Clients are evaluated and triaged based on the severity of their medical problem. We make every attempt to have patients seen in the order they arrive, but occasionally a patient must be moved ahead due to medical necessity.
Please bring a list of your current medications.
Exceptions are also made for Fast Track patients as described below.
How long will my visit take?
Many different types of problems are seen in the Urgent Care Center, so wait times and treatment times vary. Problems that require laboratory tests or x-rays generally take one to two hours. Some medical treatments such as breathing treatments or intravenous medications may take additional time.
For these reasons we recommend seeking treatment early in the day. Every effort is always made to provide you with prompt and courteous care. If you have any questions about reasons for delay, please ask any of our staff.
Why does the Urgent Care Center close sometimes during business hours?
Occasionally, a critically ill patient comes to the Urgent Care Center instead of calling 911 or going to the local emergency room. This requires our staff to stabilize the patient, and temporarily discontinue our assistance to arriving patients. Every attempt is made to reopen in a timely manner to provide safe quality services for our patients.
What is the Fast Track program?
If you have a minor medical problem, such as ear pain, cough, or sore throat, we will usually have you seen by a physician within 30 minutes of the time that you check in.
The Fast Track program is currently used in our Modesto location only. To learn more, click here to view our Fast Track flyer.
What if I am pregnant?
We do not treat pregnancy related issues at the Urgent Care Center, except for those patients who are referred by their obstetricians for intravenous fluids. In the best interest of our patients, we recommend that you obtain an appointment with your obstetrician or seek treatment at Labor and Delivery or the Emergency Room at a local hospital.
What if I have recently been hospitalized or had surgery?
If you have had recent surgery or been discharged from the hospital within the past 30 days, we recommended that you contact your physician or return to the treating facility for continuity of care.
Is my family allowed in the exam room?
Please limit friends and family to no more than two visitors per exam room, when possible.
